The Bras Are Coming In

The bras are coming in! The creativity is certainly flowing! We've had entries from breast cancer survivors as well as daughters, sisters and friends of survivors. We've even had entries from women who do not have a personal connection but simply want to make a difference in the future of breast cancer.

We will continue to accept decorated bras through Saturday, March 28th. We look forward to "A CUP" for Breast Cancer night when we will auction these works of art for a great cause! Please plan to come out for a fun evening and SUPPORT the Breast Cancer 3-Day.

The First Bra Has Been Submitted!

The first bra was submitted early for our Bra Ha Ha for Breast Cancer!

This beautiful creation is by local artist, Jennifer Tollefsrud. The bra is titled, "Woodland Spirits." Notice the detail of the faces within the 'tree' and the breast cancer ribbons on the wings of the woodland fairy!

We look forward to seeing all of the creative entries this week!

PRIZES!!!

Prizes will be awarded to the artists of three bras on the evening of Saturday, March 28th at 'A Cup' for Breast Cancer night at Paint It Red during our Bra Ha Ha fundraiser.

A panel of judges will determine three winners based on creativity, uniqueness, and of of course, theme. Winners will be announced during the first hour of the event, before the auction begins. Prizes will include gift certificates to local restaurants, department stores, grocery stores as well as the services of a local muralist.

What great incentive to get those creative juices flowing!!

BRA HA HA

We look forward to seeing your tastefully decorated, embellished, quilted and/or painted bras. Use any media you wish – fabric, beads, paints, clay, memorabilia, newspaper, decopage…dig through your closet, craft box, garage and even your recycle bucket!

This first-time event in Clayton is inspired by several similar Breast Cancer fundraisers in surrounding states. Examples from their exhibits include a 'Training Bra' with trains on it, Mardi Bra, ‘Two Cans’ with toucan birds on it, ‘Boo-bies’ with a Halloween theme, Sports Bra, Nursing Bra…is your creativity flowing yet? Use your profession, hobby and even your personal bra experiences as inspiration. Most importantly, use your creativity!!

Rules For Entry

• There is a non-refundable, tax-deductible entry fee of $20 (cash, check or credit card) that will be paid when dropping off your bra to Paint It Red on one of the following scheduled dates:
  Wednesday, March 18th from 10 a.m. to noon, and
  Saturday, March 21st from 1 to 3 p.m.

• The entry form will include the title of the work, so please have a title ready!
  
• All bras must be permanently fixed to a hanger (ex: sewn to a padded hanger).
  
• Bras can be any size and must be tastefully, completely covered with painting, fabric or other materials (please make sure that they are non-perishable).
  
• The designer's name should be attached to the inside of the bra.
  
• Pictures of the entries will be published.

Display and Auction

The bras will be displayed for one week at Paint It Red Party and I-Net Café in Clayton, NC before being auctioned at the same location. On Saturday, March 28th, Paint It Red will host ‘A Cup’ for Breast Cancer night from 6 to 8 p.m. Paint it Red offers a wonderful array of snacks, desserts, smoothies, milk shakes and of course you can always enjoy ‘A Cup’ of coffee. Local DJ, Mike Langston, will provide music and entertainment for our Bra Ha Ha evening of events.

We will begin auctioning the bras at 7 p.m. with all of the proceeds going to the Breast Cancer 3-Day which benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure to fund breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs, as well as the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund, to provide an endowment for breast cancer initiatives.

Please plan to come for our Bra Ha Ha auction and bring your wallets - we hope to “rack up” some big money for the Breast Cancer 3-Day!
